Valencia CF paid tribute to José Tarrazona in the moments before the match against UD Almería. A minute's of silence turned into a long ovation when club captain José Luis Gayà went to the corner closest to Sector 7 of Mestalla to lay a bouquet of flowers.
José Tarrazona died at the age of 53 after suffering a cardiac arrest in the stands on January 6th, before the start of the game against Cádiz CF. After being attended to inside the stadium, he died shortly after being transferred to hospital.
